I begin in
the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.
So to you, on this day of meeting of ours, and those who the Creator assembled as witnesses, I invite you to Islam. Be Muslim and receive two rewards. But if you do not, then, know that whoever has authority, is held accountable for themselves and those they lead astray. Justice is a master virtue. Nations are raised by their righteousness, and they fall by their corruption of it. You sit in the cradle of Confederacy, black robe, gavel in hand, raised high on a podium, with the air of aplomb, scholarship, dignity, and all aloofness that positions allude to: inheritor from a movement still warm. A movement based upon a just cause, not spoils and gains. Heave was its burden through the heavens and earth. And when you leave this room, you walk through the trail of blood and tears, and in he footsteps of those who fought and died, that we may have this meeting of ours. Black and white, for race is melted in the heat of a just cause. And as descendants from Adam, we all come from two.
You have
stated both openly, in your oath, and privately in your prayers, your
fear of the One God, the Creator, the Giver of life and death, the Sustainer,
the Master of the Day of Judgment and He sees, and He hears, and He is
aware of all we do. Truth comes and falsehood is perished and falsehood
by its nature is bound to perish.
So, your position has brought you to trial. Justice is to uphold truth, ad then, law if it serves truth. Allah says, He is truth. And, you are only asked: In releasing this Muslim from his forced detainment, can his slave be safe and can he be given a fair hearing? Has your governor ruled wisely? When does the lie in the soul become the lie on the tongue, knowing what you know, with Allah as your Judge? Where does a man make his mark? What does he say to his sons and their sons…… to his women? The governor of a state, where tyranny and oppression is religion. Its law, not only flawed, but to people of our common ancestry and heritage, a law that is scandalous. A state that for time immortal, has n jurisprudence made justice and law two different schools of thought, so as to give graphic meaning to the statement of “coming from barbarism to decadence without going through civilization.” Men and women in government and in high places, whose hands still are ulcerated from rope burns; a wicked adulterous generation seeketh after a sign; and there shall no sign be given unto it, but the sign of the people of old. Bigotry and unrighteousness have their own crooked ways of pretending to be tolerant. So, they send me, to argue their case, the flower of my seed, nurtured by my blood, sweat, and tears. She is made my prosecutor, and before her, though not guilty, I am defenseless. Pharoah commanded, “slay the sons of those who believe with him, and keep alive their females.” (Qur’an 40:25) And by Pharoah’s decree, the male children ere to be killed, and their females were to be kept alive for themselves. And, if I may, at this point, ask you, concerning this meeting, on this day of ours: What is it that commands such an interest in this affair? A world stage. The world of judges sending their couriers to hear and see. Is it just “the returning of a slave?” Is it because this year ends an age? For this is, the last year of your millennium, not 1999. Ask those who know. People from different places with different faces, dispatched to bring word. Why the crush of the crowd? As we speak, with the battle flag of the confederacy flying above this place as well as your capitol; still it flies under the american flag. For even Alabama, for all its evil, could not assemble, “all the king’s horses and all the king’s men.” Who could dispatch and army to hunt a slave? Ground troops, airplanes with heat seeking devices, helicopter gun ships, FBI, news media, all the king’s horses and al the king’s men. The land of the free… a country that symbolizes itself in its great seal as a bird of prey… “One out of many.” Weapons in one talon and the symbol of peace in the other… wait! I thought that the dove was the symbol of peace? But, I guess it would not look right with blood all over everything. A country that in its guiding concepts, written b themselves, for themselves, divides Allah’s kingdom between themselves and Him. They separate church and state, the spiritual from the secular. And they say, this is for me, and this is for you, God. So, they make themselves partners with the Almighty Allah. No wonder they think that wrong and unrighteousness is unimpeachable.
Allah says, what, will you kill a man for no other reason that, he says, Allah is my Lord and your Lord and He is One, having no partners? This day of meeting is not for you or me, for in truth the days, as do we, belong to Allah. He has made this appointment. Cowper wrote: “Ours alone can ne’er prevail to reach the distant coast; the breadth of Heaven must swell the sail, or all the toil is lost.”
And, verily there is no power and no might, but with Allah, the Most High! Become Muslim and receive two rewards – good in the life of this world and good in the Hereafter. And, know that there is no god worthy of worship, but the One God, Allah. I
demand unconditional release!
